on the front of my house the rooms get very hot. The sunlight hits the areas half the day .I am looking for something to cut down on the sunlight coming through my windows. I really don't want curtains because I have bad allergies and I do not want anymore fabric or dust holding materials.Also I tried blinds but they did very little

I would suggest interior real wood blinds. They cut down on heat because the air between the blind and the window make an excellent insulation barrier. They can be painted or stained.
